  1. Subtitles uploaded here for episode 1 of the original 6-episode version seem a little strange, so I stopped watching. The subtitles on the 8-episode director’s cut seem better (at least on episode 1 so far), so watching that version instead. Plus, it’s what the director intended for the story/show.

  6. Does anyone know what book this is based on? Most sites said it was based on a novel called “Intimate Strangers” by Chung Han-a, but I can’t find it anywhere?? When I search it up on google nothing shows up

    1. Im not too sure about that but it sounds so similar to a show on netflix called inventing anna and I bet they’re based off the same thing so I would look into that!

    2. Try searching for the book title in Korean/Hangul: 친절한 이방인 (“Chinjeolhan Yibangin”)
      The author’s name, 정한아, is also sometimes romanized as Jung Han-a or Jung Han-ah.

      The book was published in 2017, so it’s probable the author started writing the book before 2017.

      BTW, the 2022 Netflix show “Inventing Anna” is inspired by a real-life con artist who was arrested in 2017 in the U.S. Don’t know how similar the Korean book is to the Netflix American show or the con artist’s real life, but timing seems too close for the book to be inspired by the con artist. IDK, tho, it’s uncanny the book’s character uses the name “Anna” 안나 and the con artist is named Anna.
