Synopsis: “Shogun” is a historical drama set in feudal Japan during the 1600s, at the brink of the Battle of Sekigahara. Lord Yoshii Toranaga, the strongest military commander in the Sengoku period, faces the approaching siege of his enemy. In the midst of this turmoil, a British navigator named James Blackthorne washes ashore with valuable secrets that could save Toranaga. To communicate with Blackthorne, Toranaga enlists the help of Mariko, a mysterious noblewoman who speaks English. A bond forms between Blackthorne, who is later known as Anjin, and Mariko. As the war escalates, their paths become entangled in a treacherous political landscape, caught in the power struggle between two powerful daimyōs. Based on the novel by James Clavell, “Shogun” consists of 10 episodes and airs on Tuesdays.
