The Eighth Sense (2023)

Ji Hyun, a rural boy adjusting to life as a university freshman in Seoul, finds himself drawn to Jae Won, an older student who has just completed his military service. Their bond deepens as Ji Hyun joins Jae Won’s surfing club and discovers a newfound passion for the sea. During a club trip, they share a kiss that seems to signal a growing romance, but Jae Won’s behavior afterward leaves Ji Hyun feeling confused about his feelings.

As the story progresses, it is revealed that Jae Won is struggling with personal issues that are affecting his behavior towards Ji Hyun. Despite the obstacles, the two young men try to navigate their feelings for each other and the challenges of growing up in a society that may not be accepting of their relationship. Through their journey, they learn about the power of love and acceptance and find the strength to overcome their fears and doubts.

  1. Oh Lord,the actors,writers,producers, directors of this drama really outdid themselves. This is by far the best Korean BL I’ve ever watched. I rate it higher than any other Korean BL ever made. A must watch. 10000/10 .

  2. A hidden gem !! It means a lot to me that this drama is shedding light on the struggles of people with depression.. Kudos to both main actors for succeeding to portray their realistic characters !! .. I don’t know if this story is based on real events but as someone who has similar life experience and struggles as jaewon, I want to say thank you , I needed a drama like this one.

Yeah… Definitely the best drama… You don’t understand how suffocating it was to wait for every Wednesday literally not even knowing whether Jihyun was alive or not lol :)… Nevertheless, everything about this drama was perfect.. the story, the emotions, actors, colors, cinematography, songs ( I can’t loose it all – Ben Goldstein is my new favorite song:(((( ) and more than anything the way they both just look at each other their gazes I was dying!

    I recommend everyone to watch this ( Specially fans of the Skam series? Ya’ll gonna love it )

    1. While watching I could tell they were definetly inspired by Skam. So many scenes were similar to Evan and Isak’s relationship haha I still loved it though.

  5. This is good. Not the best Korean BL (in MY opinion), but good nevertheless. I feel that it’s overrated in certain aspects (eg the overall “message”) but it delivered on aesthetic and vibes. However, I appreciate the fact that the producers tried to delve into some more serious issues, instead of filming the usual 90% fluff BL. For me, the story felt a bit unfinished, there were things that could not be really resolved in just 10 episodes. I saw later that there are rumors about filming a second season, which would make more sense than other BL dramas.

    1. And what is, by your standards, the best korean BL? I find it hard to believe that there is something that tops it as of right now. This drama explored so many themes, including mental health which has never been seen in KBLs let alone many Kdramas. The cinematography is perfect and extremely creative. The acting is really good too.

      1. Not sure what’s so hard to believe… Different people have different preferences. ‘Semantic Error’ is the top Korean BL in my opinion, I’m sure other people hate it. I see no point in debating. If you liked this one so much, I won’t question your preference. Instead, I’m glad you enjoyed it ?‍♀️

  12. I can’t believe what ended up happening at the end, but I also kinda expected this since it’s a Korean BL, this shi bout to be sad af. I’m crying, huddled up in my blanket at 2:00 in the morning with my night light on, and tbh, I did this to myself for watching this in the first place. It’s amazing, the varied shots between flashbacks and in certain scenes was a nice addition, as well as the showcase of friendship, REAL friendship as well as the fakes. 10/10 watch.
