Synopsis: The story of two young people who became swept up in the Gwangju uprising in May 1980.

Hwang Hee Tae (Lee Do Hyun) is a troublemaker who hates anything that is predictable. To break the prejudice against sons raised by single mothers, he received top grades and entered Seoul National University College of Medicine. He also plays guitar and loves going to music cafes. However, due to unexpected events, he is experiencing the harshest May of his life.

Kim Myung Hee (Go Min Xi) is a hardworking nurse who lives alone in Gwangju. Although she is not friendly enough to comfort crying patients, she is smart and skillful. Myung Hee is more like a warrior than an angel.

Lee Soo Ryung (Geum Sae Rok) is Myung Hee’s best friend, a girl from a wealthy family. She feels a responsibility to be a leader in social justice.

Lee Soo Chan (Lee Sang Yi) is Soo Ryung’s older brother. He helps his father in the family business after returning from his studies in France.

  6. i binge-watched the 12 eps in one setting.. i was hooked, though i was sad about the ending and was annoyed with abuche and little bear, but it’s okay and all the hours i spent are worth it.. hope to see more this kind of drama..kudos to the Youth of May team!

  14. Im already hooked with the plot and I hope it will be consistent.
    The leads’ chemistry is just beyond the charts!
    The lead girl Go Min Si is so beautiful even with minimal make up. She’s a natural!
    And of course Lee Dong Hyun is such an eye candy with his boyish smirk. Love him!
    Both great actors with undeniable chemistry indeed.
