  1. There’s a few loose ends that they could have tied up instead of showing all of those flashbacks, but it’s cheaper.

  3. This was my first short length Cdrama and I do not regret it.

    So many long length ones could learn from this. Looks like Sun Jia Yang, the director, is a photographer as first arts who was able to foresee which actor would physically fill in the main role and Deng Kai, actor I discover in this serie, has the ability and all the arts to do so. As I wrote in a previous episode, he is not a star in the making, he is already a star. As for Jin Zi Xuan, her naivety, simplicity and radiant face have sucked me in her acting and personality. I foresee her future. Go Go girl ! She supported his acting and did he hers.

    Nonetheless a small budget Cdrama, there are going indeed to be some flaws such as the make-up and editing departments but they don’t belittle the good and non pretentious performance of every actor. The music scores and its poetry, silences at the right moment, the sizzling sounds of dropping tears and rain, the quietness in the leads’ motions were well tuned like a Chinese brush on a canvas. Many scenes like a still painting will stay in my memory.

    I was very impressed indeed by the confusing story line, the quick flashback. Fortunately the replay button made things easier to understand. I like the non extravagant number of actors that can get me lost in back stories and time frame. This story can be the basis of a long length Cdrama with the same main leads and director. Should it happen in the very near future, I keep an eye on Deng Kai and Jin Zi Xuan.

  4. The last scene showed that the relationship for the two would be better. She stood her ground and he said please at the end. Respect your partner.

  6. So XQ didn’t die, and the emperor do have a conscience afterall … What a messy happy ending. Feel as though the latter part of the script is written by a drunk writer 🥴

    The latter part really went downhill. If this is a normal duration Cdrama they could explore the villains’ part (the Duke, Emperor and Xueqing).

    I don’t really recommending watching this show 😑

  7. Too bad the ending wasn’t as well executed as the beginning. It just didn’t make sense in many areas. Too much done for drama’s sake, and not good story telling.
    Oh well, I did enjoy watching for the most part , altho I think my enjoyment declined sharply after Fugui’s death.

  8. Starting was actually very promising, ending parts probably after episode 19 show somehow gets medium but this show is definitely a good time pass 🙌🏻
