1. It’s the first episode but this looks too tame for a makjang… Only one slap? No screaming? Even the death wasn’t particularly dramatic. Also, why adopt a random kid if you don’t even want to? Their family business is pretty much a glorified loan shark, it’s not like they have any “social heritage” to uphold. And considering how seniority works in Korea, why adopt a kid older than your own? It would have made more sense if she was the husband’s illegitimate daughter.

   Beyond that, why does the husband look like a 16yo? When they showed the painting at the beginning, I thought he was supposed to be her younger brother or something T_T he has such a baby face and the comparison is so glaring when the second male lead shares a scene with the (first) male lead… And he’s a big loser because he wasn’t even doing the bad thing, just wishing he could do it. Pathetic tbh.

   That bit about hyperrealism was a nice touch though, I’ll give them that.

2. The half of the first episode is very boring. The lead female is a caricature of a so innocent lady that makes de beginning very tedious. Does it get better any time?
