1. The snippets we see of Shen Yu Rong, tormented with guilt and fear, feeds our need for revenge until the axe falls on his head. Being married to someone whose family dislikes you is a life of hell!

   We finally get to see the little boy behind the strong, stoic duke. The writer plays on our heartstrings and lets us know how tortured he is. He is a man of few words who is misunderstood by the crowd, and he doesn’t care to correct them.

   Their interaction is like watching a game of wits 🥵. She matches his energy and I know it’s a heady feeling.

   Also, if she is the pawn in his game as he claims, then I cannot wait to see what positions she plays when she finally rises to the position he wants her to be at.

   PS: Both ML and FL are gathering admirers every where they go lol. Lets see who collects the most at the end. My bet is on the duke 🤔😂

4. Incase anyone is curious this is how the author describes the duke in the novel:

   Duke Su was like an enchanting demon spirit walking in the quiet night in his red brocade clothes, seducing the soul within the blink of an eye. He had a gaze with a smile yet not a smile, causing the slight smile hung at the corner of his lips to look somewhat wicked. His walking posture was languid yet graceful as if admiring the full moon in a courtyard. Even if he was a beauty, he was a moody and toxic beauty and it’s better to provoke him less.

   From the description, WXY embodies the character so well.

5. (episode spoilers below)

   HAHAHAHA YES. BRING. BACK. INSATIABLE. MALE. YEARNING. we’re only in the early episodes now, so it’s obvious that the Duke (aka Xiao Heng) is going to reject his feelings at first and insist that Xue Fangfei is a pawn, but we know better. He’s already fallen and he doesn’t even know it yet. I already see this as a ‘he fell first and (hopefully) he fell harder’ trope. When the female physician said “no wonder he came to me to beg for you” I was like… BEG??? BEGGING!!! YES. if this man is already begging for her now, imagine what he’s going to be doing for her later? I LOVE a man that doesn’t play about his woman, and from what I can see, the Duke does not, and WILL not play about xue fangfei in the future.

   I also love the little teaser of skinship we got in this ep with him teaching her how to use a bow AND I love how when xue fangfei went the Duke’s residence the day after she was supposed to, and the Duke’s soldier was like “he waited all day for you yesterday” ALL DAY, YOU SAY? HAHA YES. HE WAS LONGING TO SEE YOU, XUE FANGFEI. I LOVE IT. AND OMG when xue fangfei was making the bet with the female physician and placed the bet on the Duke’s life instead of hers and she said “if anything happens to you, I’ll take my own life in return” and his response was just “you’ll die with me, huh” and then he said “well what are we waiting for?” bc he trusts her with his life😫 (at least that’s now I’m interpreting it bc I’m delusional) 😫😫 *SWOOON* and when she picked the correct spider he was just like “what a pity that she can’t die with me”. now, call me crazy, but I took that as “sucks we can’t die together so we can be with each other in this life and the next 😍😍😍” LOL. *pls don’t let this be foreshadowing, writers* 💀

   Anyways, I can’t wait to watch more episodes and see how this will play out. I NEED A HAPPY ENDING.
