Behind lavish lifestyles and pretentious glamour comes unsettling truths. High Class spins around the lives of various women living in the top 0.1 percent of society. Song Yeo Wool (Cho Yeo-jeong) is a lawyer who loses everything after being framed for her husband’s murder. She meets Nam Ji-seon (Kim Ji-soo), the “queen bee” among mothers in a prestigious school where the elites’ children go. Song soon find outs Nam had an affair with her now deceased husband. Danny Oh (Ha Jun), a former ice hockey player teaches at the school. This is a mystery suspense drama full of hidden hypocrisies, lies, and deception.

High Class is scheduled to premiere September 6 on JTBC.

2. Lost

Lost is a story of second chances in life. Two ordinary, wandering souls— 40-year-old Boo Jung (Jeon Do Yeon), a ghost writer whose life went astray after knowing she hasn’t achieved anything yet, and (Ryu Jun Yeol), the 27-year-old who runs a role service business who’s always afraid and fears ending up a nobody. They both dream of seeing the spotlight and have relentlessly worked hard but still end up being lost. After realizing how steep the downhill of life is, they try to change the course of their lives.

Lost is scheduled to premiere September 4 on JTBC.

3. Yumi’s Cells

Based on the eponymous webtoon, Yumi’s Cells is a psychological romance drama full of comedy, amusement, and warmth. It follows the office worker, Yumi’s (Kim Go Eun) daily life. What seems ordinary outside turns extraordinary as the story engages through the eyes of the little cells inside her head. After suffering a break-up, her love cells have fallen into a state of coma while all the other cells try to revive them. Then she meets the emotionally stunted game developer Goo Woong (Ahn Bo-hyun) who suddenly sparks her love cells back to life.

Yumi’s Cells is scheduled to premiere September 17 on tvN.

4. The Veil


The Veil is a spy investigation, Korean-style drama which follows the story of a National Intelligence Service (NIS) top field agent, Hand Ji-Hyuk (Namkoong Min). Everybody is in awe of his amazing skills, hard work, and perfect record but he goes missing after snooping around an organized crime syndicate hoping to destroy it. A year later, he suddenly returns. Wanting to plot a scheme of revenge, he does his best to find the traitorous person who threw him into an endless pit.

The Veil is scheduled to premiere September 17 on MBC.

5. Squid Game (2021)

Ki-Hoon (Lee Jung-Jae) is thrown into a life of misery after getting fired from his job. He learns about a secret survival game with a whopping grand prize of 40 million dollars. Desperate, he enters the game. Sang-Woo (Park Hae-Soon), his childhood friend, also joins as he faces a crisis at work due to mishandling of company funds. The real life competition is a street game both used to play with each other when they were children. It is a physical game where players draw a bunch of geometric shapes on the ground resembling that of a squid.

Squid Game is scheduled to premiere September 14 on Netflix.

6. One the Woman

One the Woman is a comic drama about a corrupt prosecutor Jo Yeon-Joo (Honey Lee) who loses her memory due to a car accident. After waking up from a coma and having amnesia, she is thrown to a new life. Because of their striking resemblance, she poses as the daughter-in-law of Kang Mi-Na (Lee Ha-Nee) of a chaebol family. Meanwhile, the son of a chaebol family Han Seung-Wook (Lee Sang-Yoon) who left the country due to inheritance, comes back and meets his first love.

One the Woman is scheduled to premiere September 17 on SBS.

7. Dal Li and Cocky Prince

What are the odds between a man and a woman, who have nothing in common, to fall in love? Dali and the Cocky Prince follows the uneducated yet savvy, money-hungry Jin Moo Hak (Kim Min-Jae) and the classy, considerate Kim Dal-Ri (Park Gyu-Young). Though each having wealth, both are opposite in everything. One a son of an uneducated family, the other a daughter of a prestigious family. When the art gallery Kim researches at suddenly goes bankrupt, Jin tries to takeover — not knowing he would also end up stealing her heart.

Dai Li and Cocky Prince is scheduled to premiere September 22 on KBS.

8. Hometown (2021)

Hometown is a suspense drama where Choi Hyung-In works as a detective who is overcome with guilt and sadness in failing to prevent his wife’s tragedy. In 1989, Jo Kyung Ho (Um Tae-Goo) terrorizes a train station and is sentenced to life in prison. His younger sister Jo Jung-Hyun (Han Ye-Ri) takes care of his daughter. But her niece suddenly goes missing. Choi Hyung is currently investigating a murder case that took place in a small town. Later, he suspects that the murder case is somehow related to his wife’s death. Both teams up to find answers.

9. The King’s Affection (2021)

The King’s Affection tells the story of a Crown Prince’s consort giving birth to a set of twins, which is considered a bad sign. They set out to kill the daughter but was begged to be kept alive and so was sent out of the palace. Years later, the twin son dies, so the mother raises her daughter as Prince Lee Hwi (Park Eun-Bin). Fearing people might notice, she was hidden. But the appearance of a striking, handsome teacher Jung Ji Woon (Ro Woon) changes her view on love and emotions.

10. My Name (2021)

Filled with complex and never before seen plots, My Name is a drama to look out for. When Yoon Ji-Woo’s (Han So Hee) father was murdered, she joins the police force posing as an officer under the supervision of an organized drug crime boss Choi Moo-Jin (Hee-Soon Park) as she plots for revenge. Jeon Pil Do (Ahn Bo-hyun) is a rule-abiding officer who becomes Yoon’s partner. Their team leader, Cha Gi Ho (Kim Sang-Ho) vows to eradicate the drug operations before he retires. This is a story of perseverance, darkness, and vengeance.

My Name is scheduled to premiere October 15 on Netflix.

11. Let Me Be Your Knight (2021)

Let Me Be Your Knight is a drama of romance circulating the lives of a 5-member idol group Luna: Kim Yoo-Chan (Yoon Ji-Sung), Woo Ga-On (Kim Dong-Hyun), Seo Woo-Yeon (Jang Dong-Joo), and the center of it all, Yoon Tae-In (JR). The leader Yoon is a musical genius, confident idol who is celebrated by people all over the world but is suffering from somnambulism. To secretly treat him, they hire In Yoon-Joo (Jung In-Sun) who originally works as a tour guide but dreams of buying a house and so poses as a fake doctor. They live together and soon, romance blooms.

12. Cliffhanger (2021)

Cliffhanger is a star-riddled drama that explores the vast and towering beauty of Mount Jiri where Jirisan National Park employees trek and explore. Seo Yi Kang (Jun Ji Hyun) is the park’s most valuable ranger with extensive knowledge in navigation and locating lost individuals. She becomes partner with Kang Hyun Jo (Joo Ji Hoon), a newbie ranger but dedicated man who is an ex-lieutenant having to graduate from a military academy. Both navigates through the mysterious mountain which people come to hunt and to end their lives at.

Cliffhanger is scheduled to premiere October 23 on tvN.

13. The Red-Stained Sleeve Cuff (2021)

Set in the 18th Century, The Red-Stained Sleeve follows the love story between the Crown Prince of Joseon, Lee San (Lee Joo-Ho) and an esteemed court lady, Sung Deok-Im (Lee Se-Young). Eventually, Lee becomes king and now desires Sung as a concubine. However, Sung wants to live a free life that she had chosen so she refuses as she knows the king will prioritize the nation over love and life as a concubine meant unhappiness. Yet in the end, she becomes his royal concubine.

14. Tale of the Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi (2021)


Tale of the Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi is a historical period drama full of comedy and out of the norm ideas. It centers around the smart but easy-going, dumpling-eating Ra Yi-Eon (TaecYeon) who soon becomes a secret agent in the Office of Special Advisors where he is tasked with secret missions. Kim Jo Yi (Kim Hye-Yoon) is a curious, progressive woman of the Joseon period who is trying to divorce her husband. After several refusing, she was ready to give up— that is until she meets the royal inspector, Ra. Together, they work to solve cases and missions.
