  1. The scene at the memorial tablets was so heartbreaking. The fact that she could lie to Tunan’s face like that is beyond me. I can understand her lying to Kang Shaojie but not her own brother to such an extent. That too, in mention of their parents. She essentially made him feel like shit for questioning her, but how will they both feel after the truth really comes out? Tunan said himself that he just wishes for her to be herself – the only thing he clearly wants is her trust and honesty. He trusts her, but she doesn’t trust him in the same way. Idk how this dynamic will pan out tbh.

  4. I like that they didn’t paint Wei Ruolai as a self-righteous protagonist in the drama nor keep him as an innocent young man. They skillfully showed us how his new environment and experiences gradually shaped and changed his character. Took his revenge, pocketed the gold and didn’t stand on high moral ground with Shen Jizhen after the facts. Other thing too that I like is that protagonist and antagonist have the same opportunities and luck in the drama. I forgot to comment on episode 18 or 19 but Jizhen stumbling across the fact that Li Shengda was alive is something that generally comes across antagonists lap in cdrama. I was mildly surprised about it. The change is refreshing. I just hope they don’t continue to drag Li Shengda’s matter. It will be kind of badass if they could keep it as a secret that Wei Ruolai will only know till the drama ends.

  6. WOW … absolutely no flies on Ruo Lai … he would make the perfect spy but still why smash his head with a shovel and then try and hang him … why complicate things with too much effort. I hope Li Sheng Da has gone to have a cup of tea with Meng Po on the bridge of oblivion.

    Kang Shao Kie … smh 😏 … he justified to kill 3000 potential communists than to let one go … 🙋 hello wtf … Kang is protecting Li Sheng Da a former communists who has really done nothing to support ‘the cause’ except to steal gold bars and kill a whole heap of Kuomintang police officers … it is ok to let him live 🤔 … smh … Kang couldn’t lie straight if his life depended on it … all he wants is a justified ‘venue’ where he can unleash his sadistic, murderous tendencies while scooping as much gold and quodos with the powers to be as he can, while deluding himself about his own virtues … .

    👏 Li Qin’s performance at Jin Zhen’s parents alter was well done … that is the depth I have been wanting to see in Jin Zhen, but it fizzled out … she is coming across too much the spoilt impetuous idealised brat … oh well, I guess that is just the personality that I have to accept for Jin Zhen.
