1. Wow, Consort Yue did not come to play! She read everyone to filth without taking even one sip of her tea… It’s refreshing to see a Consort who is not always trying to usurp the throne for her son or undercut the Empress. Although she’s clearly more pampered and has the wits for it, she probably loves the Emperor enough to not cause him trouble. Also, because she has seen the real devastation of war, she understands that there are no winners when the Imperial Family is infighting. It’s a shame that neither of her daughters is up to par. I guess the good looks+brains combo skips a generation or something.

3. man i was really wary of consort Yue but the last scene really surprised me and gave me chills

   1. Same! I admired the way she put her children in place. So many dramas I’ve watched have the mothers spoiling their children, particularly if they’re princesses, but Consort Yue is sensible. She’s not the jealous consort that tries to attain power maliciously but serves to balance the inner palace. I thought Shaoshang would have to be careful of her since she seems to be a force to be reckoned with, but it seems that Consort Yue is on Zisheng’s side, and by extension on Shaoshang’s side. I think she’s gonna be one of my favourite characters.
