  2. I was bored for half of it.

    *Spoiler alert*
I had high expectations for this drama from the very moment I saw the poster. However, I was bored for the first eight episodes. I had expected something like Vincenzo and instead this drama became a slow burner. As things progressed I became more hooked. Seo Min-Yeong was listed as a main character but I think that’s a stretch as she barely had any scenes at all for the first half of the drama and still then as it progressed she only had one or two scenes per episode in the show’s second part. With that being said, I loved the romance aspect but couldn’t help but to pick it apart either. To me, it seemed that Jin Do-Jun had groomed Seo Min-Yeong. Or technically he was able to realize as Yoon Hyeon-Woo that she would become Soonyang’s greatest threat. Jin Do-Jun knew he was going to do everything in his power in his new life to become the new chairman of Soonyang group and succeed. He knew that he easily could turn his family against each other, and that ultimately none of them would be smart enough to take over as the chairman. However, he knew he wouldn’t be able to outsmart Seo Min-Yeong. So, what do you do if you can’t beat the enemy? You join them. Which means that everything he did probably had an ulterior motive until he fell in love her in a genuine way. Aside from that, it was really satisfying to see him outdo his family time and time again, and at no point did I fear he would lose. That said, when I watched the last episode I was in shock and disbelief that Jin Do-Jun actually had died and he now was back as Yoon Hyeon-Woo. Especially because he knew from his old life that the real Jin Do-Jun also had died. He got blinded by his love for Seo Min-Yeong so much so that it ended up killing him as he was making rushed decisions in regards to her, such as going to see her the day he died. I was certain that the drama would have an easy, happy ending with him getting everything he wanted, which the drama had led up to. When he suddenly changed back to Yoon Hyeon-Woo for the last episode I had almost forgotten about the life he had led before. But it makes sense, because this way they got to finish off Yoon Hyeon-Woo’s lifetime too. Yoon Hyeon-Woo lived a life that wasn’t meant to be his. He wasn’t meant to take over Soonyang, he was supposed to teach it a lesson. The whole purpose of his new life was to right a wrong. To find out who had instigated his murder and to teach the elite a lesson. It was good to see the missing puzzle pieces fall into place at the end. I was certain that it either was Mo Hyeon-Min or Jin Dong-Ki who actually had orchestrated the accident. We all knew that Jin Dong-Ki was the most brazen and sly of them all, and he had previously betrayed the family so it would have been an obvious choice. My other guess would have been Mo Hyeon-Min who’s greed and desperation grew bigger for her husband to become the chairman. And lets not forget that she initially wanted to marry Jin Do-Jun and not Jin Seong-Jun, so she certainly had motive. But then again the whole family hated Jin Do-Jun for his guts and wits. But I was shocked to learn that it actually was Jin Seoung-Jun’s father, Jin Young-Ki, the person I was the most sure of couldn’t have done it, as he had himself displayed as passive, a coward and a pushover. And to think that all of this only happened because the chairman had changed the rules of who could be the successor shortly before he died. To add insult to injury the chairman himself was almost killed in a car accident too, instigated by his wife. And although he survived, the complications that followed ultimately sped up his brain damage which winded up killing him, if not prematurely, at least in a dishonest way, considering who he was. This drama had such a bitter-sweet ending. Yoon Hyeon-Woo got to live one hell of a life as Jin Do-Jun and almost had a happy ending, only to find himself back as Yoon Hyeon-Woo which means he couldn’t get back with Seo Min-Yeong as they barely knew each other in that life. I was confused as to whether or not the whole ting then had been a dream or a parallel universe, but it was revealed that Seo Young-Min in fact had been dating Jin Do-Jun prior to his death and that his death led her to dedicate her career to become Soonyangs grim reaper. Plus we found out why she only wears black which was her sweet and subtle way of mourning Jin Do-Jun’s death. In the end Jin Do-Jun’s mysterious death was revealed as murder with Jin Seong-Jun and Jin Young-Ki exposed and thus we saw the end of Soonyang as we knew it. Everything became full circle when Yoon Hyeon-Woo still managed to orchestrate Sooonyang’s downfall even without a single share in the company and he even got back to working at Miracle Investment with his partner Oh Se-Hyeon, a partner- and friendship that I absolutely adored. I was sad to see that Yoon Hyeon-Woo and Seo Min-Yeong didn’t get their happily ever after. You could see a few minutes before the show ended that Yoon Hyeon-Woo considered to tell her or at least get close to her again, but in the end came to realize that they weren’t meant to be in that life. He had to let her go, knowing that he at least had her once in another lifetime.

Endings were tied up nicely for the last episode where our burning questions got answered, but still one hell of a bitter-sweet drama.

    Rating: 7/10

  3. so for anyone new interested

the story has a lot of potential , the acting is very nice, the plot in ep 1/5 is solid and gripping BUT from there on its the repetition of the same old drama and the acting starts becoming repetitive. This continues till the last episode which goes to a complete 1 out of 10. The ending makes the whole story pointless so yeah its nice to watch but will just be a disappointment.

If you have watched big mouth its like the ending of that, super rushed and ruins all character buld up

Oh, there is an absolutely unneccessary fml and a romance sub plot that has the worst chemistry i have seen so far in a kdrama.

would be a 4/10 overall, was expecting so much more

    1. omg why do they always rush the endings? Can’t they just add a few more episodes and end the drama nicely? I’ve watched big mouth too and the plot was amazing but the ending was a total disappointment. Also i don’t understand what’s the reason to even put a fml this is a revenge story.

    2. For anyone interested
I absolutley loved the drama, it has amazing actors and interesting plot. Decide on your own if you want to watch it and try thinking with your own head, don’t let some bad review discourage you from watching it.

    3. I actually cannot agree with your comment at all. Maybe I’m not as critical as you (or don’t have as much financial knowledge), but in my opinion, this is a really cleverly thought out storyline with many actors delivering great performances keeping the viewer on his/her toes till the end, because you really have to pay attention to get all the intricacies and twists. Although during the first half of the series I thought Song Joong Ki’s performance was a bit bland because of little emotion shown in the facial features (but what do I know), he’s also really good in the second half. I enjoyed watching this drama very much and can only recommend it to everyone – as long as you’re here for a drama, not a romcom.

  4. This was the first drama in a long long time that I watched on a weekly basis instead of waiting to binge and I’m not even a Song Joongki fan. I’m glad I watched while it was airing because otherwise, I might have been discouraged by the viewers’ reactions to the finale. I actually don’t mind the ending though.
Would I recommend this? Absolutely! Even if the last episode wasn’t on par with the rest of the story, the good parts outnumbered the bad by a large margin. For anyone interested in modern Korean history and the “real chaebol families” this is a must. Don’t expect anything groundbreaking in terms of story because there are many clichés and tropes. But they’re executed well for the most part, by an excellent cast imo. And don’t bother with the “romance”; this drama is not about romantic love but about the relationships between children/ mentees and their fathers/ paternal figures/ mentors.

  5. OMG its already 1:43pm Saturday 24th December and episode 15 is taking its time coming out, dont do this to me KST?⌚?

    1. It’s supposed to say Tiffany Young from SNSD. The disrespect to both girls by whoever wrote Suzy for not telling them apart ??

  6. is it just me, or are these episodes a bit dragging, long and unnecessarily slow? the story is exciting but the flow of it is painfully slow and lacking in showing the story in an exciting way. also, i dont like the fact that the revenge plot for his aunt is slow and not working in do joon’s favour. shin hyun bins character as the prosecutor is becoming a typical kdrama character of a dumb prosecutor being tricked by rich people to start hating who she likes. shes gonna be a nuisance now. i so want the scriptwriter to follow the manhwa more and makke it a happy ending.

  7. This legit doesnt follow the manhwa. I was hoping he would be a kid (actually) and then progress. This was the reason i watched in the first place ?

    1. I saw that episode 7,8 were aired on saturday and sunday respectively instead of friday and saturday, so I believe that episode 9 should be airing today according to Soompi

    2. Not necessarily, this show is scheduled for 16 episodes so at some point they will go into only two episodes a week, just not sure when that will be.

  8. its hasn’t been realesed yet and it made it to the most popular dramas ?? powerfull
Song jong Ki we’ve been waiting for you ??

      1. One ep has been released, the other ep is aired on the 31st of December, or on December 31st when all the eps are released I’m not too sure.

    1. I don’t where you saw such things but the website says ,”Airs on Oct 29, 2022″ and also “Airs on Dec 31, 2022” but no mention of November anywhere.
