  1. My interpretation is that Arisu is the joker as he flipped the whole game upside down and got everyone out of it. He was the anomaly, the joker and he was the hero of the game

  2. To be honest I was wondering what will happened when they will put the joker card in the game and I was surprised to see there wasn’t anymore games after the queen of hearts, thinking they “forgot” the joker. But showing it on the table in the end filled the gap… If they were to make a s3 i’m down to watch but I have no apprehension, to me the game ended for real.

  3. It’s sad how they all were friends in the games world and now except the main character’s the others will never talk or be friends again 🙁

  4. yall need to know everything she said from the beginning was a lie well most of it, but many people think that they were all made in Arisu’s head and that he made everything up, but how would you explain the Joker card at the end? and the fact that there’s going to be a ss3 explains it all, there’s probably more to it than everything made up in his head

  5. So, I need to say it…Nope…there will not be a 3rd season. And yeah…Mira was really his psichiatrist…Trying to destroy the fantasy characters in Arisu’s head and to bring him back to reallity…therefore…the enemy. His friends really died hit in an ascident. Arisu (thats is how alice is pronouced in japanese) really create that world and narrative in his head to escape reallity due to the trauma. And to be able to find himself a deserving survivor. The last game was the last atemptive to bring him back to reallity. But he denied in the end. He chose to go on with the delusional narrative. Thats when Mira cries and says to him that yah life was a game and tell him to enjoy. Them Arisu’s narrative goes on. He beats the “queen” and goes to the “real world”. But thats not the real world…thats another narrative made by Arisu’s head. Where to him, their friends died due to a metheore (so not his fault, althought he feels guilty for been the only survivor of the 3). And all the more important charecters are there. And the ones that were not necessary anymore were discharged. Thats why the joker shows up…because he never left his fantasy state…he just changed. And yeah…he decied to stay delusional to survive…but made an evolved narrative. And thats the end. Thats why the name is Alice (Arisu) in borderland. Because it is indeed about HIS mind.

    1. I beg to differ.I think the borderland is the in-between or limbo stage between life and death. All the players (the people in the disaster of Tokyo) in the borderland are given two options of choosing the afterlife or coming back to reality where they woke up from their coma. The series was named Alice in Borderland because Arisu is the main character. It is definitely not HIS mind!! Because,it wouldn’t make sense for the supporting characters to have their own narratives if Arisu was the one creating the narratives. In the series, the character’ narratives were shown! And,also, the joker card might be something that is left for interpretation or it could be a hint /cliffhanger for season-3.

  6. Honestly I’m the only one saying this in the comment section I don’t like the ending I wish the borderland was real and everything actually happened in there than it would have been more interesting.

I feel like the writers did this because they couldn’t think of a better explanation of why or how they ended up in there.

  7. Okay that was awesome I wasn’t expecting that!! Although i realized that the two guys (from the Jack Of Hearts game) accepted to stay in that world permanently so they actually died:(
Also I’m assuming that niragi is actually normal and not bad in real life which is great.
(Did they like connected to a system/universe in that case a coma??)

  8. so all of the game stuff and Alice in borderland was in all of their heads when they were in a coma, and determined if they live or die if they passed and survived the games?

  9. The joker card is a trump card which is off a ferryman that guides the souls between this world and the next and upon seeing many lives that died. the ferryman gave them a second chance and they skipped the joker scene from the manga after they defeat the queen

  10. My interpretation of the joker card is that it symbolizes “we’ve all been fooled/tricked”. The characters were fooled and so were we. The fireworks was the meteor in reality. When it hit, they were all fighting for their lives where the “games” were them trying to survive. The games were like a second a chance for the people to live. The ones that died in the game also died in real life. The ones that survived also survived in real life. A very very well written show where every episode is worth watching. Truly amazing <3

  11. OMGGG THAT WAS AMAZING!!!! I was scared that the ending would be bad like most dramas nowadays but this ending did not disappoint! I enjoyed watching it all. I really loved how the queen of hearts lady played a psychological game. That’s was unique, interesting and clever. I forgot the joker card existed as well since it gets left out most of the time. I’m guessing the joker card at the end was an open discussion/interpretation kinda thing. Like they left it up to the audience to interpret it however they want which is also interesting. Overall it was amazing and a must watch!

  12. I didn’t think it would end like this but i’m seriously not disappointed ! I really liked the psychological aspect of this series, i would like to give a big times up to the writers who must have worked really hard on it. Congrats for making this beautiful series. 🙂

  13. I got it, borderland is a place between life & death. Before the last episode, I thought it was all inside Arisu’s head, something like having illusion when you get addicted to something( in Arisu’s case it was game addiction). But it turned out to be something like coma in real! This series is a must watch!
Can anyone explain me what is the purpose of the Joker Card?

    1. someone else said this and i agree, they said that they think the joker card is trying to say like ‘youve been tricked/fooled’ which is what happened to the characters. the meteor which hit them is the fireworks that they saw so in a way they were tricked like that. the games they played were to decide whether or not they would live in real life, so if they died in the game, they died in real life
