  1. I am very impressed with this chinese series. Specially the wigs!!!

I have seen a many chinese series and they mostly fail with the wigs because when the light reflects on the edge of the wigs it shows. This series is meticulously done.

Also the battle of wits between the princes. Very well done.

As for the story, it mostly addressed all the interweaving scenes. From why Wuxin taught them the martial arts to the blank image of the rank of swords.

And I also have to commend that Emperor, he is really sly until the end and left the decision in between the prince as to who should ascend the throne.

And I love the ending, I can totally understand why the MC chose that decision. Most people only see the grandeur of the power, fame and the throne but what most don’t see is how taxing and exhausting it is to maintain that.

And it’s true, the throne is the loneliest seat in history and the most ridiculed. You have to be perfect if you want your legacy to not end up in ruin.

If you don’t agree with me then you better read world history or worse, read world politics. It gives me headaches everytime. And I’m not even a king.

  2. Thanks for ending this movie the way I way I wanted it to end i never wanted to be the king he he didn’t am so happy with the ending

  3. sorry but i am very disappointed with the ending. Till the end his 2nd brother was not worthy of being the king, at least for me. That romance they created between the vermillon girl and xiao huche was a turn off for me, i don’t know where it came from, there was no signs, nothing, no chemistry between them. Hong Yi Li is an amazing actor, very handsome, i like him soooooo much. every time i watch his dramas i am always amazed by his beauty and mannerism.

    1. I’m not disappointed. Though Xiao Se was the most capable Prince, his heart was never set in being the Emperor. As his father says to him here, people from the martial arts world long for freedom. And he’d never be happy shackled to the throne and the capital for life. His brother Chong is a good and capable man, intelligent, good, just and honourable, he wanted the throne, it’s a win win for all. They’ll work well together too if major problems arise as they respect and understand each other. And Xiao Se has a brilliant future ahead in the company of friends who’ll watch out for each others. It’s a good ending for me.
As for the choice of love interest, watch the anime and keep in mind that that is the original so it was a detail that didn’t work out with real actors.

      1. It’s called Youths and the Golden Coffin. It’s a sequel to The Young Brewmasters Adventure and a prequel to Word of Honor. All well worth watching

    2. I disagree. The second prince deserves it. He was willing to give the throne to the MC even though he wants the throne. He is cunning and wise but not bad like the seventh prince. The seventh prince deserves his faith.

The sixth prince (the MC), he also deserves the throne why do you think the Emperor chose him as well to be Emperor. The Emperor despite his short-comings has grown wise over the years and let the two deserving princes to decide for themselves.

In the end the MC made his decision because he has grown wise as he travelled the world with his martial brothers. He only wanted to clear Lord Langya’s name in the end. And he knows the country is in good hands with the Second prince.

The second prince never tried to fight his battles by killing or making a puppet out of everyone like the seventh prince. He fought it with cunning without crossing the lines. So, he also deserves to become Emperor.

So, in the end the Emperor let the two princes decide for themselves.
